Paul D’Alton

Associate Professor, School of Psychology, University College Dublin

Paul is an academic clinical psychologist and former Head of Psychology at St Vincent’s University Hospital. He trained at Trinity College Dublin and has since worked as a clinician, researcher, educator and activist. Paul’s work focuses on human rights and health inequalities, and he has published widely across these areas. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a particular emphasis on applying psychological science to individual and societal wellbeing. Paul also specialises in mindfulness-based interventions, co-directs the MSc in Mindfulness Based Interventions, and supervises students across multiple postgraduate programmes. He has held several national and international leadership roles in human rights and psychology, including serving on the European Federation of Psychology Associations Board of Human Rights and the Advisory Board of the Global Network of Psychologists for Human Rights. At UCD, he has contributed extensively to equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives and currently advises LGBT Ireland on academic research.
