As an international marketing graduate from Dublin City University, Liz worked in a variety of senior business roles in the financial services sector with ABN Amro Bank in the Netherlands and AIB in Ireland over a period of 17 years. In 2008, Liz moved to the not-for-profit sector where she worked with Concern Worldwide as Department Head for a period of 6 years.
Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2012 and following her treatment, she joined the Marie Keating Foundation in March, 2014 as Director of Public Affairs. She was promoted to CEO in March 2015 and over the past 11 years has led a transformation programme to enhance the impact of the Foundation as one of Ireland’s leading voices in cancer awareness and support services throughout Ireland.
In 2018, Liz co-founded the 221+ Cervical Check group for the women and families affected by the CervicalCheck controversy and continues to serve as Chairperson and Board Member of 221+.
Having completed a Masters in Company Direction in 2020, Liz also joined the Board of IPPOSI (Irish Platform for Patient Organisations, Science and Industry) in February 2023.
Liz is dedicated to supporting people and their families at every stage of a cancer journey, advocating for patient rights and driving improvements in cancer awareness and support services. She plays a pivotal role in advancing the Foundation’s mission to make cancer less frightening, creating lasting change and shaping better outcomes for those affected across Ireland.
