Jim Lucey

Inspector of Mental Health Services, The Mental Health Commission

As a clinical professor of psychiatry at Trinity College, an associate professor of psychiatry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), and a former consultant psychiatrist at St Patrick’s University Hospital, Jim officially took up his current role in July 2023. A graduate of the RCSI, Trinity College, and King’s College, London, his training in psychiatry took place at St Pat’s, The Maudsley Hospital in London, and the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College. He has been a Governor of St Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital in Fairview, a member of the health committee of the Irish Medical Council, and a former member of the Board of Mental Health Commission. A native of Dublin, Jim is also a writer and public speaker on mental health issues with more than 50 research publications and three popular books on mental health to his name.
