Aidan McCormick

Chairperson, NI Cancer Research Consumer Forum (NICRCF) & Member of Queens University Belfast PPI Network

Aidan is an active patient advocate supporting the work of cancer researchers and clinicians as they help improve outcomes for patients. Until his retirement in 2019, Aidan was employed by the Northern Ireland Education Authority as an Education Adviser. Previously he was a teacher of science and careers education at post primary level. He has been a blood cancer patient for fifteen years. Aidan is Chairperson of NI Cancer Research Consumer Forum (NICRCF) and a Member of Queens University Belfast PPI Network. He is an Executive Committee Member of NI Cancer Trials Network (NICTN) and Patient Advocate Member of the All-Island Cancer Research Institute (AICRI) and the All-Ireland Translation Radiation Oncology Network (AITRON). He is a past Governor of the NI Southern Regional College.

Public and Patient involvement (PPI) through the Patient’s Voice promotes a sense of empowerment and value. It builds confidence and gives hope and optimism in challenging times.
