Who We Are
Established in 2001, the Oesophageal Cancer Fund is the national charity for Oesophageal Cancer in Ireland, bringing the good fight to a bad cancer. We are a small Irish charity with a big local network.
OCF is committed to creating better awareness of Oesophageal Cancer, and its risks and symptoms, to deliver early diagnosis and successful treatments.
We work directly with people affected by Oesophageal Cancer, their families, clinicians, researchers, volunteers and other support and advocacy organisations to improve the experiences of and outcomes for people with Oesophageal Cancer. Together we aim to do so by providing dedicated support, raising awareness, engaging in research and advancing knowledge to support the early detection and prevention of Oesophageal Cancer.
What We Do
• We support people who have been diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer, and their families through our Patient Support Meetings, Peer-to-Peer Programme, phone line and website resources.
• We fund vital research, increasing early detection and survival. This includes the National Barrett’s Registry and Biobank, as Barrett’s Oesophagus can be a precursor to Oesophageal Cancer, and diagnosing and monitoring Barrett’s saves lives.
• We raise awareness so that people know the symptoms of Oesophageal Cancer and act fast. Early detection is key to saving lives.
