Robert is a public health medicine physician with expertise in population health intelligence, national surveillance systems, health protection, and strategic health service improvement.
His current work focuses on the development and application of health intelligence to support policy development, system planning, and service improvement. He leads a Cancer Intelligence function within Ireland’s National Cancer Control Programme, working with clinical, operational, and policy leaders to develop national intelligence infrastructure, performance frameworks, and governance approaches that support improvement in population health outcomes.
His professional experience spans health intelligence, surveillance, health protection, and strategic programme development, including work across the Health Service Executive and the Department of Health. His work has included supporting national service planning, developing performance improvement initiatives, and translating complex population health data into actionable insights for decision-makers.
Robert has a keen interest in strengthening the role of evidence and insight in health system improvement, and enabling services to move from reactive models of care toward prevention, anticipatory planning, and sustained population health improvement.
His training includes postgraduate qualifications in Public Health, Healthcare Informatics, Health Service Leadership, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.
