Loretto joined Eurofins Biomnis in 2018 as Chief Molecular Scientist, playing a pivotal role in responding to the need for urgent SARS-COV-2 testing. Spearheaded the set-up of Covid Lab Operations, providing quality reports to HSE & Private Clients with over 1 million samples tested, the 2nd biggest HSE capacity in Ireland.
Currently, she manages a 6-strong molecular scientific team, offering molecular diagnostic tests in Haematology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
As Project Manager / Chief Molecular Scientist, she was pivotal in setting up a campus company in the Trinity Translational Medicine Institute in 2023 to provide NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) in Ireland.
Project Manager for CERVIVA, Irish Cervical Screening Research Consortium, Molecular Pathology, CWIUH. It’s a groundbreaking collaboration comprising 7 academic institutions, 8 hospitals and 8 biotechnology partners, which has secured competitive research funding from the Health Research Board for a 5-year research programme comprising eight individual projects to ensure the full and effective implementation of a specific multi-institutional research programme designed to support a world-class cervical screening programme for Irish Women.
Loretto was Founder and Director of Gynae-Screen Ltd, the 1st HPV laboratory providing an accredited service in Ireland, located on and supported by the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, providing a molecular diagnostic comprehensive laboratory service; specialising in the detection of HPV & Cervical Check for hospitals, clinicians, healthcare providers and GPs.
